Click Here to view Baktash’s recent work, including his Emmy Award-winning effort as the Executive Producer for Retrograde. The matching funds' effort is an adjunct to our ongoing programs supporting education (SOLA and Code to Inspire), nutrition (AWAKEN and Bamiyan Weavers), employment and culture (The Afghan Children’s
Songbook Project and Zarif Design), and medical needs (Green Village Midwifery Program) for the citizens of our Peace Corps host nation. Your support will help us continue this important work.
While we are contacting our FoA members first, we are expanding our outreach beyond the Peace Corps community to seek support for Baktash’s next film project. In early production as “The Afghan Champ,” the new release is now titled "Champions of the Golden Valley” and will premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival on June 5-16, 2024. Featuring the competition between two teenage boys from rival ethnic groups vying for the crown of their village’s skiing competition, "Champions" offers a lesson in competition, resilience, and friendship in a nation approaching the end of four decades of war.
Your support for Baktash’s films will help propel the launch at Tribeca, honor our third Goal Pledge, and empower us to continue making a lasting difference for the women and
children of Afghanistan, who are the primary recipients of our many years of humanitarian outreach.
